Musician Rena Nalumansi has opened up on the challenges that she faced when she started dating her long-time manager, Justin Bas.
Renah and Justin, who have been working together for many years, once denied being in a relationship, despite rumors persisting. With time, they embraced it and went public about their affair, followed by children.
While speaking to Ruth Kalibbala, Renah opened up on how it got tricky to navigate between her career and her love life.
“I’m still learning how to handle it. There are things you need as a woman, yet he is so into the career, and vice versa. Before I met him, I tried managing myself, and later, I got a manager. Now I understand that we need to meet halfway because he is my man and my manager at the same time,” she said.
Despite all the challenges, they were able to navigate them because of the special bond and how strongly they understand each other and know their schedules.
The advantage is that he will understand, and there won’t be a fight when I get a call to perform late in the night because he will be there with me. We plan our music and family time well, and it helps in such a way that we both understand what is happening in both our lives,” she said.
Renah confessed that on several occasions, they had to appear in public for her performances after a huge quarrel at home. Amidst the silent treatment, she would still follow his instructions on stage because he is her manager.

Regardless of this, Renah attributes their successful marriage and long working relationship to the fact that they understand each other.
“We are very good friends and have so much to talk about. When we sit together, we are always talking and laughing because we have so much. Some people are out there who are strangers in their marriage, but we have a bond. He understands me and knows what to say right,” she said.
Renah Nalumansi revealed that they met at Theatre Labonita, where she had gone to escort a friend. Justin was on set doing an interview, and being in the same industry, they exchanged numbers with the hope of working together. They started as friends, and after some time, he became her manager. As they grew closer, they fell in love.
