Kenyans are mourning the death of one of the music industry’s top Reggae emcees, MC Fullstop, real name John Maina.
MC Fullstop passed away after a long battle with Tuberculosis, diagnosed a few years back. The killer disease attacked his lungs, causing them to collapse entirely.
According to reports, the TB had spread to his throat, affecting his speech, movement, and performance. MC Fullstop underwent various medical procedures to enhance survival, including Bronchoscopy, a procedure where a thin tube (bronchoscope) is inserted into the trachea to visualize the lungs.
Amid his health challenges, rumours circulated on social media suggesting that he had passed away, and Fullstop was quick to address the media, deeming them baseless and untrue.
His condition, however, kept deteriorating until he breathed his last on August 1, 2025. The news of his unfortunate passing was confirmed by his close friend and former workmate, DJ Juan.
The MC who made a name as one of the top hype men worked with a number of prominent deejays. He co-hosted Reggae Vybez on K-24 TV, a show that aired every Saturday from 11 am to 1 PM.
