Ragga Dee Urges Eddy Kenzo-Led UNMF to Set Up Emergency Fund to Support Struggling Artists

Date:

Veteran singer Ragga Dee has advised the Eddy Kenzo-led Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) to establish a fund to support its members.

Ragga Dee, during a recent TV interview, noted that artists/creatives signed to the Federation needed assurance that they always have a fallback plan when they face challenges.

According to the ‘Mbawe’ hitmaker, as artists just like any other people could easily get problems like accidents, giving in to addictions, and lacking rent, among others, without money. This fund would therefore help them cover such emergencies.

“Artists have a leadership now, and I think the Federation is supposed to take up that situation. When such an artist faces such a problem, the association they belong to is supposed to investigate it. I advised them to set up a fund to help creatives within the federation in case of emergencies.

That fund should be created to help, and leadership is supposed to put it in place as insurance. This will assure people that they have a fallback plan when they get problems,” he said.

Ragga Dee’s submission came in line after Grace Khan’s family members made a public plea to raise money amounting to 6 million to help bail her out of rehabilitation, where she had been confined over an unpaid bill.
