Racheal Balimwezo Explains How Ronald Balimwezo’s Amputated Leg Influenced Her to Marry Him

Date:

Racheal Balimwezo, wife to the newly elected Kampala Mayor Ronald Balimwezo, has revealed that his ability to use his amputated leg drew her to him.

In several interviews, Balimwezo has always said that he was knocked off his motorcycle while riding to work in Luweero. The accident claimed his leg, and he now survives on an artificial limb.

Racheal Balimwezo, during a recent interaction with Sanyuka TV, shared how they met, saying she first spotted him during one of his campaigns. As he stood before the people, he removed his artificial leg, telling them he was a victim of bad roads.

“I was so touched, and I remember thinking about how a handsome man was amputated. I felt bad about it, then I let it go,” he narrated.

The campaigns went on, but from that point, Racheal confessed that she started focusing so much on the amputated leg to see how he was able to do all he did with just one leg. One particular memory that stood out for her was when Balimwezo participated in a bicycle race and won by far.

“When they set off, Honourable rode the bicycle and left behind the guy who had two fully functioning legs. He left him a very long distance away, and I wondered how he did it. When it was time to go home, I waited for the driver to take me, but then when I looked in front, it was the same man with one leg seated on the steering wheel,” she said.

It was at this point that she realized he was the right man for her because of his resilience and courage.

“He took my heart there and then because he was very strong, doesn’t pity himself, believes in himself, he is a go-getter, and fights for whatever he wants. I just knew he was my kind of boy,” he said.
