Renowned producer Kusseim Baddest has opened up about his failed rap career, which inspired him to pursue music production.
Growing up, Kuseim revealed he drew inspiration from rap veteran Babaluku because he loved how he rhymed. He felt he would do well as a rapper and began considering how to take his dream to the next level.
With his friend’s connections, Kusseim secured a studio session but was disappointed when he couldn’t express himself in the booth.
When I got there, I couldn’t sing anything. You know vibing is different from being on the microphone. The guy looked at me, singing uncoordinated things. I knew I couldn’t do it, and I spoke to him about my passion for rapping. I had not yet learnt how to, but I loved to.
The producer advised him to stick around and pick up inspiration from others, something he did diligently. On this particular day, however, Kuseim sat on the computer and started mimicking the producer on how to make beats.
I woke up one day, sat on the computer, and tried out different beats. I was alone and kept going offbeat, but on this particular day, I did well and came up with a charming, simple beat. He appreciated me.
