Police Probe Killing of Elderly Couple in Entebbe – Lifestyle Uganda

Date:

Police in Entebbe have launched an investigation into the killing of an elderly couple found stabbed to death in their home over the weekend. The case, now classified as double murder and aggravated robbery, has rattled residents of Lugonjo-Nakiwogo Cell, a peri-urban community in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District.

The victims—David Mutaaga, 69, and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga, 62—had only recently returned to Uganda to retire after spending more than three decades living abroad.

Their bodies were discovered on July 6 by a domestic worker who had come to the residence. Both had suffered multiple fatal stab wounds.

“They were both found with fatal injuries,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police. “Officers documented the scene and collected several exhibits, which have since been submitted for forensic analysis.”

The bodies were later taken to the City Mortuary in Mulago for postmortem.

Police have not yet determined the motive behind the killings, but Owoyesigyire said all leads are being followed.

“We strongly condemn this heinous act,” he said, “and wish to reassure the public of our commitment to ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice.”

No arrests had been made by press time.

The murder has added to mounting concerns over violent crime in fast-growing peri-urban zones on the outskirts of Kampala and Entebbe. Entebbe Municipality alone has recorded 11 homicide cases since January—up sharply from the same period last year.

Across the broader Kampala Metropolitan region, police have registered 94 murder cases in 2025. Twenty-one of them are tied to aggravated robbery, according to police data.

In response, local leaders and residents are pushing for tighter security measures—more night patrols, community policing, and surveillance cameras in high-risk neighborhoods.

Police said more information will be shared as the investigation develops.
