Police Disown Custody of Missing MP Tinkasiimire

On Monday, June 30, 2025, the Uganda Police Force stated it had no information on the whereabouts of Buyaga West Member of Parliament, Barnabas Tinkasiimire, who is reported to have been abducted under unclear circumstances.

Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma told journalists that Tinkasiimire is not in their custody and suggested that if he was arrested, it may have been carried out by another security agency.

“We do not have Tinkasiimire in our detention. If he has been arrested, it could be by another security agency,” Rusoke said.

The incident has sparked growing concern among the public, prompting renewed calls for clarity from security organs regarding the MP’s situation and for steps to ensure his safety.
