Police in Nateete have arrested two suspects linked to a string of violent panga robberies in Mutundwe, a suburb of Kampala.
The arrests followed an incident that occurred in the early hours of April 10, 2026, at around 1:00 a.m., when three men armed with pangas and sticks allegedly mounted an illegal roadblock in Kweeba Zone, Mutundwe Parish, Rubaga Division.
According to police reports, the suspects targeted a boda boda rider who was transporting two passengers. The trio reportedly ordered the victims to lie on the ground before demanding money and other valuables.
However, their operation was cut short after police officers on routine patrol responded swiftly to the scene. The officers intercepted the suspects, arresting two on the spot while one managed to escape.
The suspects in custody have been identified as Engulu William, 37, a private security guard, and Mutabazi Paul, 21, a resident of Kabaawo Zone.
Police have since launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspect and any other individuals believed to be connected to the criminal activity. Authorities say investigations are ongoing as they work to dismantle the suspected gang behind the robberies.
Residents in the area have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals to law enforcement agencies as efforts to enhance security continue.
