Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the shocking double homicide of David and Deborah Florence Mutaaga, a couple recently returned to Uganda from Switzerland, as police investigate a potentially premeditated attack tied to deeper family tensions.
The Mutaagas, long-time residents of Zurich, had just celebrated their return with family and friends at their home in Lugonjo, Entebbe Municipality, when tragedy struck. Within hours of the farewell party, a masked assailant allegedly breached the compound and fatally stabbed both victims in what police describe as a calculated act of murder rather than a robbery.

Kampala Metropolitan Police officials Patrick Onyango and Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that the suspects, Angela Nakalema and David Golooba—both domestic workers—were arrested to aid investigations. CCTV footage revealed that the attacker had planned the ambush carefully, avoiding security cameras and moving with clear intent to kill.
Investigators say the attacker first killed David Mutaaga, forcing him to open the gate before stabbing him repeatedly. He then entered the house and murdered Deborah in her bedroom. Although Deborah managed to make distress calls to the suspects and others, police arrived too late.
The fact that no property was stolen has led detectives to suspect a personal motive, potentially involving unresolved family disputes over inheritance. However, police continue to explore all possible leads to determine the true cause behind the brutal killings.
