Police Arrest Eva Mbabazi In Connection With Death Of Dr. John Spire Kiggundu,

Date:

Police have arrested Eva Mbabazi, a woman in her early twenties, in connection with the mysterious death of Dr. John Spire Kiggundu, a prominent figure whose body was discovered just an hour after checking into the Dream Guest House on June 21st, 2025.

The late Dr. Kiggundu checked into the Lubowa-based guest house along Entebbe Road at 5:45 PM. By the time the hour struck again, he was dead.

The suddness of his death sent ripples through both the medical community and the public, particularly after social media began circulating the name of Eva Mbabazi as the last person seen with him.

Her name, until recently a matter of online speculation, became central to the investigation after closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the guest house showed her exiting the very room Dr. Kiggundu had booked.

This footage, which surfaced during police reviews, proved instrumental in confirming her identity and establishing a direct connection to the deceased during the critical final moments of his life.

Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the developments.

“We have been looking for her and finally this week we arrested her and brought her in,” Onyango stated.

Authorities had been actively pursuing Mbabazi following the incident, treating her not as a suspect initially, but as a key figure who might hold valuable information.

Her arrest marks a pivotal moment in the case, especially since she has cooperated fully with the investigation.

“She has been cooperative, and she gave us all the information which we wanted, we recorded her statement,” Onyango confirmed.

According to police, her testimony has helped investigators reconstruct the final hours of Dr. Kiggundu’s life, shedding light on circumstances that were previously unclear.

Currently, the case sits with the state attorney, whose office is expected to determine whether Eva Mbabazi will face formal charges. Onyango clarified the current legal standing of the case:

“We forwarded the file to the state Attorney for perusal and legal advise. Since this was a general inquiry file, we did not attach a charge sheet. We wanted the state attorney to guide us on whether she has a case to answer and what charge we should file.”

Investigators await the attorney’s decision, which could come as early as today (Thursday).

That guidance will determine whether this becomes a criminal case or remains a general inquiry.
