Plascon Donates Paint to Refurbish Tooro Kingdom Palace Ahead of 30th Coronation Anniversary – Xclusive UG.

Date:

Kansai Plascon Uganda, the country’s leading paint manufacturer, has donated paint to refurbish the Tooro Kingdom’s Royal Palace, an initiative announced Monday as preparations ramp up for the Omukama of Tooro’s 30th Coronation Anniversary. The donation is substantial, covering both interior and exterior painting of the palace, which spans more than 8,500 square meters.

The handover ceremony took place at the Palace Grounds. Santosh Gumte, Managing Director of Kansai Plascon Uganda, oversaw the event, joined by company leaders Daniel Kayongo, Head of Marketing, and Kato Moses, Head of Sales.

Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire and Deputy Prime Minister Henry Basaliza accepted the donation.

“Such partnerships create impact and real change,” Prime Minister Rwomiire said. “We are grateful to Plascon for this amazing initiative as we prepare for the coronation. This isn’t our first collaboration — Plascon has supported us over the years, including with the Amasaza Cup, which has helped us reach thousands more people.” He added, “I officially invite you all to the coronation celebrations. The palace, freshly painted and restored to its majestic glory, will be an amazing place to be.”

Gumte reiterated Plascon’s commitment to supporting cultural institutions. “We are proud to be the official paint partner of Tooro Kingdom. This is a long-standing relationship we deeply value — I’ve even been honored with an Empaako, Ateeyi,” Gumte stated. He explained that “Supporting educational, cultural, and religious institutions is part of our ESG goals and our way of giving back to the communities that support us.”

The palace refurbishment is a key part of preparations for the 30th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, scheduled for Sept. 12, 2025. The project aims to ensure the palace looks its best for the highly anticipated celebrations.

This contribution reflects Kansai Plascon’s broader commitment to sustainability, heritage preservation, and community empowerment under its #ColourYourWorld initiative.
