PFF’s Nabatanzi accuses NRM operatives of destroying opposition posters in Wakiso

Date:

Joan Nabatanzi, a People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) aspirant for the Wakiso Woman MP seat has accused NRM operatives of orchestrating the destruction and removal of opposition campaign posters. She described the actions as unfair and a violation of democratic principles.

Speaking to BbegMedia at the PFF headquarters in Katonga, Kampala, Nabatanzi said she was dismayed by the practice.

“I am deeply shocked that NRM elements, acting on the orders of their presidential candidate Museveni, have destroyed opposition posters, including mine. We have the right to display our posters, just as they do, to ensure a fair campaign and reach the electorate,” she stated.

She claimed her posters were removed in several locations, including Entebbe-Kitoro Market, Katabi, and Garuga.

She estimated losses of approximately Shs 5 million due to the printing and installation of these materials.

Undeterred, she vowed to continue displaying her posters across Kira, Nansana, Makindye Ssabagabo, Busiro East, Busiro North, Busiro South, and Kyadondo East, despite what she described as illegal actions by regime supporters.

If elected, Nabatanzi said her focus shall be on advocating better economic policies, challenging unfair tax burdens on businesses, improving access to quality schools and healthcare, and enhancing road infrastructure. She also called for the immediate release of PFF founder and four-time presidential candidate, Col (Rtd) Dr Kizza Besigye, along with Obeid Lutale, Sam Mugumya, and other NUP political prisoners currently in detention.

She accused Museveni of undermining democratic principles and acting outside the law by detaining these individuals and denying them their constitutional right to bail.

Nabatanzi, if given the PFF ticket will compete against NUP’s Betty Ethel Naluyima, Democratic Front’s Flavia Nakafeero, and candidates from the NRM, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), and Democratic Party (DP).
