PFF’s Joan Nabatanzi vows to tackle land grabbing if elected Wakiso Woman MP

Date:

Joan Nabatanzi, the candidate for the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) in the Wakiso Woman MP race, has pledged to tackle the problem of land grabbing if elected in 2026.

Speaking to Bbeg Media in Wakiso recently, Nabatanzi said the pervasive issue of land grabbing had affected many residents in her constituency, including herself, as she nearly lost her ancestral land in Najeera.

“I assure the people of Wakiso that tackling land grabbing will be a top priority. It has affected almost everyone, including me,” Nabatanzi said. She said she will push for land reforms in Parliament to protect citizens from unscrupulous land grabbers.

Additionally, she proposed policies to encourage productive use of idle land for income-generating activities such as agriculture, livestock farming, and industrialisation.

Nabatanzi criticised the existing land laws, arguing that they enable land grabbers to exploit owners, leading to conflicts and financial losses during the processing of land titles and leases. She also took aim at the incumbent Woman MP, Betty Ethel Naluyima, accusing her of doing little to address the crisis. Nabatanzi urged voters to trust her experience in handling land issues and support her candidacy in 2026.

Beyond land reforms, Nabatanzi promised to advocate for improved access to clean water, enhanced educational support for schools, better healthcare services, and the construction and rehabilitation of roads in Wakiso. She also pledged to push for fair taxation policies by the district’s local government to ease the burden on residents.

On the continued imprisonment of PFF founder Dr Kizza Besigye, Nabatanzi vowed to continue campaigning for his release and that of other political prisoners across Uganda.
