Musician and city pastor Wilson Bugembe has recalled heartbreak on Valentine’s Day that almost drove him into depression.
In a TV interview, the Worship House lead pastor revealed that at one point in his life, he dated a girl he loved deeply. Previously, he didn’t care about celebrating Valentine’s Day until this particular relationship.
On the fateful day, he kept texting his girlfriend, but his messages went unanswered. It was on this day that they broke up, and the emotional stress almost drove him into depression.
“I once told you about a heartbreak that almost finished me. I never used to care about Valentine’s Day until that one. I first texted ‘hey,’ and she didn’t respond. I kept sending the heys, but they went unanswered. I then apologized for sending so many messages. Little did I know that I was already on my journey to depression. But I thank God I came out of that,” he said.

Pr. Bugembe described Valentine’s Day as a force that he says was distracting young people, forcing them to lose focus. He advised them not to lose guard under pressure but instead to spend their time in church.
“You might find someone who has protected themselves all their life and is losing guard because of Valentine’s; they end up getting HIV. Sometimes they might end up going out with other people’s married partners out of pressure; there are so many heartbreaks on this day. To my single people, come to church and stop bothering people on their phones. Many people are living a fake life and gifting themselves, and you are running mad over that,” he said.
