Musician and city pastor Wilson Bugembe has heaped praise on singer and politician Bobi Wine for not snubbing him over his political views.
Pastor Bugembe is a staunch supporter of the ruling party, yet still a good friend to Bob Wine. During his press conference, the Worship House lead pastor confessed that he had always wondered how he would juggle the conflicted friendship, but was surprised when Bobi Wine embraced him when they met.
The two were in attendance at Mikie Wine’s concert at Serena, and when Pastor Bugembe approached the NUP leader, he was surprised to be greeted and hugged, reigniting the brotherly love they had shared in the past.
It was a good feeling meeting Bobi Wine after a long time as a presidential candidate. I used to watch him on TV, and the last time I saw him physically was at Kato Lubwama’s burial. Politics aside, Bobi Wine is a potent person in the country. I want to thank Bobi Wine for showing me our longstanding brotherhood when I came before him.
You never know whether he will welcome you, because he is an important figure. He didn’t snub me because, after I left, I heard he ignored other people. I knew I was lucky and I thank him for welcoming me. I told him the truth that I loved President Museveni and him.
Giving his reasons for why he owed his loyalty to both HE Museveni and Bobi, Bugembe recalled that in primary school, he had failed to raise school fees, and that in the same year UPE was introduced. He thanked the president for giving him the chance to fulfill his dream of education.
For Bobi Wine, Bugembe says he had a dream of spreading God’s gospel to the secular part of the industry and got an idea of getting Bobi Wine to feature in his ‘Komawo Eka’ video.

God told me to look for Bobi, and when they took me to his house in Magere. I went in my uniform not only because I wanted him to feature in my song, but also because I had gone to see a star.
