Orthodox Church Pope Finalizes Maiden Visit to Jinja City

His Beatitude Theodore II the Pope and Patriach of Alexandria and all Africa has graced Jinja City today morning, Friday, 21st February, 2025 in his maiden visit to Eastern Uganda

The Pope’s visit started on February 18th by a meeting with the President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House, Kampala Diocese where he proceeded to Rwemiyaga, Gulu diocese, and finally in Jinja Diocese.

While on his visit in Jinja, the Patriach told believers to strengthen their hearts, commended the president of Uganda and Ugandans for the warm welcome, and embracing the Orthodox Church religion.

Speaking to journalists, Silvester Kisitu, the Bishop Orthodox Church Jinja Diocese and Eastern Uganda told believers to embrace God in their hearts as it was emphasized by the Patriarch.

He also commended other stakeholders including the Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom, Busoga Consortium, and Members of Parliament who were present for the solidarity during the Pope’s visit to Busoga and Eastern Uganda.

In attendance were Members of Parliament; Timothy Batuwa of Jinja East-Jinja City, Theodore Ssekikubo of Rwimiyaga, Sembabule District.

Addressing the Media, Theodore Ssekikubo of Rwemiyaga commended the pope’s visit to Uganda saying it has come with blessings as the general elections draw closer, and strengthening believer’s hearts mostly in these difficult times

Ssekikubo further added that the Pope’s visit has also come with a development agenda citing an example like the teaching hospital to be established.
