A fatal accident occurred along the Mbale-Sironko road in Sironko district on Thursday evening, 10th July, 2025 resulting in one death and two critical injuries.
The accident involved a Toyota Wish vehicle with registration number UBQ 276A, which was traveling from Mbale town to Sironko.
According to Frank Muzoora, the Sironko district police commander, the vehicle lost control and overturned several times at the Mpogo trading center located at Bukhalu Sub County.
One passenger, yet to be identified, died on the spot, while another two were admitted to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital in critical condition.
Muzoora stated that the driver fled the scene, and police are currently hunting for him to face the law.
The police have taken the vehicle to Sironko Central Police Station for further investigation. The cause of the accident is attributed to over speeding. Investigations are ongoing.
