NWSC announces Friday water outage for Kampala residents

KAMPALA, Uganda  — Many Kampala residents will experience a water supply interruption Friday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. due to planned power upgrades and maintenance at the Ggaba Power Station.

National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) — Kampala Water, announced Thursday that the outage is necessary for UEDCL to improve power supply to the Ggaba plant.

Areas that will be affected include: Ggaba Road, Munyonyo, Buziga, Makindye-Lukuli, Salaama, Kansanga, Nsambya, Muyenga, Kololo, Nakasero, Kampala CBD, Nakawa, Mbuya, Kyambogo, Mutungo, Banda, Jinja Road, Ntinda, Naalya, Najera, Mulago, Makerere, Kamwokya, Kanyanya, Gayaza Road, Bwaise, Nabweru, Bombo Road, Kagoma, Nakulabye, Namirembe, Mengo, Rubaga, Bulenga, Buloba, Mityana Road, Nateete, Kyengera, Buddo, Nabbingo, Nsangi, Mutundwe, Namasuba, Najjanankumbi, Lubowa, Seguku, and surrounding areas.

NWSC advises customers to store enough water and use it sparingly, as the system will take time to stabilize after the plant shutdown. The corporation regrets any inconvenience caused.
