NUP’s Shamim Malende Rushed To Nairobi To Seek Further Medication

Shamim Malende the Kampala Woman Member Of Parliament has been rushed to Nairobi Hospital in Kenya for further treatment.




Shamim has been in hospital for so many months and left Uganda for Kenya today and she will be in Aga Khan Hospital in Kenya.

The MP has been bedridden in Nsambya Hospital and it’s where she has been transferred to Kenya after being there for a long time without change.




Speaking briefly to the media, Malende stated that she experienced severe stomach pain and complications, a condition that has made her very weak and unable to walk on her own.

For about two years now, Malende has been in and out of hospital. During this period, she has undergone several emergency abdominal surgeries.

However, she states that the conditions keep recurring after some time. She explains that, physically, she feels very drained.




On who is meeting the medical bills, the MP explained that Parliament covers some expenses through her insurance as an MP, and she clears the remaining balances herself.

She appreciates her National Unity Platform party leaders and members for always checking on her.
