KASESE, Uganda — The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has won all six parliamentary seats in Kasese District in recent elections.
In Kasese Municipality, Kambale Ferigo secured the seat with 11,899 votes, defeating his closest rival, Kithula Francis, who garnered 9,787 votes. Centenary Robert came in third with 5,141 votes in a contest that featured six candidates.
Busongora North was retained by incumbent Sowedi Kitanywa, who polled 21,064 votes, defeating William Nzoghu, who received 13,817 votes.
In Bukonzo East, Monday Julius Rude emerged victorious with 28,195 votes, beating Forum for Democratic Change’s Masereka Sylvester, who garnered 9,032 votes. Incumbent Herold Muhindo of the People’s Front for Freedom came in third with 5,482 votes. Six candidates contested the seat.
Bukonzo West saw former Chancellor Chrispus Kiyonga return to Parliament after polling 35,899 votes, defeating Katusabe Godfrey Atkins, who received 26,399 votes. Shahidu Muhindo came in third with 1,932 votes.
