NRM Sets Clear Guidelines for Flag Bearer Primaries, Warns Against Election Fraud

Date:

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has announced the official guidelines for selecting its party flag bearer in the upcoming primaries, which are scheduled for today August 17, 2025.

Dr. Tanga Odoi, the chairperson of the party’s electoral commission, issued a stern warning to anyone considering illegal actions to influence the election process or manipulate voters.

Speaking at a press briefing, on July 16, 2025, at Kyadondo plot 10, NRM headquarters, Richard Todwong, the NRM Secretary-General, emphasized the party’s commitment to a fair and transparent process.

He made it clear that any attempt to manipulate or disrupt the election would not be tolerated.

“We are determined to ensure a process where discipline and fairness prevail, especially with the upcoming general elections just around the corner,” Todwong said.

Dr. Odoi elaborated on the specific rules for the primaries, highlighting the importance of voter verification and campaign guidelines.

He clarified that voting would begin at 6:00 AM and end at 8:00 AM on the day of the primaries.

The results are expected to be announced by 10:30 AM. Odoi also addressed concerns about security in certain areas, assuring members that the election would proceed smoothly and without interference, even in areas where security is a concern.

Emmanuel Dombo, the NRM spokesperson, also reminded party members of their right to elect the candidate of their choice freely.

“We encourage everyone to respect the process and make their choice without fear or intimidation,” Dombo stated.

As the party prepares for the crucial event, the NRM is focusing on ensuring that the primaries run smoothly and reflect the will of the people, ahead of the national elections.
