NRM launches national door-to-door mobilisation drive

Date:

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has launched a parish-based door-to-door mobilisation strategy with just over a month to the January 15, 2026, elections.

The strategy was unveiled at the NRM headquarters by Rose Namayanja, the deputy party secretary general, who said they want to strengthen campaign operations at the lowest levels of the community.

Namayanja said each parish will form a team of 63 people. These teams will include structural leaders, representatives of persons with disabilities, women’s groups, elders, youth, veterans, NRM parliamentary flagbearers, former MPs, and local councillors.

“These teams will go village to village, door to door, and person to person. We have developed this strategy to ensure we intensify our campaigns such that by January 15, the NRM can secure its victory,” Namayanja said.

She said the NRM presidential candidate, Yoweri Museveni, has already travelled to 96 districts as part of the early mobilisation drive.

The NRM national treasurer, Barbara Nekesa, who heads mobilisation in the Bukedea subregion, said the party began its preparations in 2024 when it updated the national voters register. She said the exercise helped the NRM reach close to 20 million voters.

“We are confident, and we believe that President Museveni will be given another term of office. The idea of protecting the gains is important because many achievements have been made since the NRM came to power in 1986. Peace and stability have been restored, women’s empowerment has grown, and the country has invested in infrastructure,” she said.

She added that other sectors, including ICT, have also been improved under the party’s leadership.
