The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party is set to launch its highly anticipated Annual Delegates’ Conference on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds. This four-day event is expected to bring together thousands of accredited delegates from across the country, marking a crucial moment in the party’s roadmap toward the 2026 national elections.
Speaking to media at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology in Nakawa on August 24, 2025, NRM Director of Communication, Emmanuel Lumala Dombo, confirmed that all preparations were complete.
“Health teams are on standby, security is tight, and all systems are activated. We’re fully ready for the Special Organs Conference starting tomorrow. The turnout for accreditation has been overwhelming, and it shows the strength and unity of the party,” Dombo stated confidently.
According to Dombo, the accredited delegates include members from various Special Interest Groups (SIGs) such as, Youth, Women, Workers, Elders, Veterans, Entrepreneurs and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
These groups form the backbone of the party’s grassroots mobilization and are expected to play a key role in shaping policy discussions during the conference.
“This is not just a routine gathering; it’s a strategic assembly where the future of the NRM will be mapped out,” the support is massive. The future is bright. We are the National Resistance Movement,” Dombo emphasized.
The conference will run from August 25 to August 28, 2025, with different sessions dedicated to key issues such as, Policy review and internal party reforms, Organizational updates and election preparedness and Reaffirmation of party leadership and strategy.
Dombo also revealed that each delegate was facilitated with accommodation and logistical support to ensure full participation throughout the event.
A major highlight of the conference will be the official attendance of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who is also the National Chairperson of the party. President Museveni is expected to address delegates on the opening day (August 25) and return for the closing ceremony (August 28).
During the final session, he will be formally unveiled as the party’s National Chairperson and flag bearer for the upcoming February 2026 general election, a move that has long been anticipated by party loyalists.
“This is the moment we prove our readiness not just for elections, but for continued leadership. The NRM is not just a party. It is a movement. And that movement is stronger than ever,” Dombo emphasized.
