Nigerian singer Tems, real name Temilade Openiyi, has given her reasons why she will not be returning to Uganda for a performance any time soon.
Tems is one of the most desired female Western African artists that party lovers have wished would perform for them again. Taking to her official X handle, however, the Grammy Award-winning star squashed all the hope.
She made the revelation as she answered a trending question on the platform, where a fan asked her what her lore was for not coming back to Uganda.
She responded by sharing a screenshot of her standing in the Ugandan court when she was being charged in 2020.
It should be remembered that Tems was arrested and detained in Uganda during the COVID-19 lockdown for allegedly violating restrictions.
She, alongside fellow Nigerian singer Omah Lay, had been booked to perform at The Brunch. Immediately after the concert, they were whisked away by police, charged in court, and later sent to Kitalya Prison, where they were remanded for two days.

This inspired the #FreeTems hashtag, which trended across social media platforms and later led to her release. She has since lived to tell the story of her awful experience in the Ugandan prisons.
