KAMPALA, Uganda — Prudential Uganda has introduced a digital payment integration that allows customers to pay life insurance premiums through Airtel Money in a partnership with the payments platform NxtPe.
The new system enables policyholders to complete transactions directly from their mobile money wallets, with payments reflecting instantly. The initiative is designed to eliminate common barriers such as travel time and physical payment locations while reducing the risk of lapsed policies.
Tetteh Ayitevie, chief executive officer of Prudential Uganda, said the partnership aligns insurance management with the daily mobile habits of Ugandans.
“This partnership improves how people access and maintain their Prudential life insurance policies,” Ayitevie said. “Premium payments now fit into everyday mobile money use. This strengthens financial protection, reduces missed payments, and supports our agenda of simple and accessible financial solutions for Uganda.”
The integration is also expected to assist insurance agents by streamlining the sales and renewal process. Instant payment confirmations are intended to shorten the time between a sale and policy activation while building client confidence.
Neelesh, chief executive officer of NxtPe, said the collaboration focuses on removing friction from essential financial services.
“Working with Prudential Uganda brings life insurance closer to people through mobile money,” Neelesh said. “Secure and instant payments support consistency and trust in financial protection.”
Prudential Uganda is regulated by the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda. Its parent company, Prudential plc, provides life and health insurance across Africa and Asia and is listed on the stock exchanges in Hong Kong and London.
