Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation Dr. Monica Musenero emphasizes Uganda’s strategic position in global industrial revolutions during the E-Mobility Expo launch.

KAMPALA, Uganda – Uganda is set to host its second National E-Mobility Expo on Sept. 18-19, 2025, a collaborative effort to accelerate the country’s transition to electric mobility. The expo, themed “Powering Innovation, Accelerating Industrialization and Shaping Africa’s Green Future,” was officially launched at Next Media Park.

The Presidential CEO Forum (PCF) has been a key advocate for e-mobility, with CEO Irene Birungi Mugisha highlighting its role in hosting the Technical Committee that shapes the national e-mobility strategy. These advocacy efforts have already resulted in policy changes, including a VAT exemption for electric vehicles.

Development partners, including the European Union, Enabel and GIZ, have pledged continued support, particularly for vocational training to build capacity within the e-mobility sector. Kampala’s city development strategies are also integrating e-mobility as a core component for pollution reduction and inclusive growth.

Dr. Monica Musenero, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, who was the guest of honor, underscored Uganda’s strategic position in the Fourth and Fifth Industrial Revolutions. She noted that science, technology and innovation are now central to the nation’s development planning under NDP IV.

Kin Kariisa, Group CEO of Next Media, encouraged Ugandans to visit Kiira Motors to see the progress firsthand and to raise public awareness about green transportation alternatives.

The 2025 Expo is anticipated to draw major stakeholders from industry, government and development sectors, all working to advance a cleaner, smarter and more industrialized Uganda.
