Aspirants for the Namisindwa District Local Council V (LCV) seat, together with members of the District Executive Committee (DEC), have agreed on a harmonised joint campaign programme set to begin on Monday, 7th July, and run until 21st July 2025. According to the NRM electoral roadmap, voting will take place on 24th July 2025.

Political climate in Namisindwa is heating up

The Namisindwa LCV race has attracted four aspirants: Wataka Simiyu Patrick, Situma Maango, Bwayo Emma, and the incumbent, Wakweika Jackson.

According to the agreed schedule, campaigns will kick off on Monday, 7th July 2025, in Bukokho and Bumbo sub-counties, with open rallies planned at Kaboole Primary School and Bukokho Sub-county Headquarters. On Tuesday, the campaign will continue in Bumbo and Mukhuyu sub-counties in the Greater Bumbo region. Later in the week, specifically Thursday, the team will head to the Bubutu region with rallies scheduled in Namboko, Namitsa, and Nabitsikhi.

The NRM District Chairperson, Aramazan Wabuko, emphasized that the guidelines require all candidates to participate in these meetings to present their views. He called for peaceful, issue-based campaigns devoid of personal attacks.

However, Alex Molokoyi, the personal assistant to the incumbent and his representative at the meeting, stated that their candidate would not participate in the joint rallies. He cited security concerns and said they would follow their own campaign arrangement. This position was rejected by the DEC, which clarified that only the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission has the authority to approve such a deviation, not the District Executive Committee.

Candidate Bwayo Emma criticized the decision by the incumbent to opt out of the joint rallies, saying that such campaigns are intended to promote transparency and accountability. He stressed that incumbents have a duty to explain their track records and manifesto commitments to the electorate.

Aspirants for other positions in the district also agreed to follow the harmonised campaign programme.
