Museveni and the meaning of a ninth term

Date:

By John Musinguzi

Deep felt congratulations, comrade Gen Yoweri Museveni, Uganda’s ninth president, for winning the contest for your ninth term in office: 1986 to 1990, 1990 to 1996, 1996 to 2001, 2001 to 2006, 2006 to 2011, 2011 to 2016, 2016 to 2021, 2021 to 2026, and now 2026 to 2031. May you rise to your special historical mission this time around.

Surprisingly, a number of your admirers, including Andrew Mwenda, have openly told the world that you are no longer loved by the majority of Ugandans, but that the state’s resources of big money, weapons and the security apparatus, together with outright rigging, always lead to your being declared the winner.

They have even expressed pessimism about your ability to perform well given your age, cynically categorising you as a leader preoccupied with the past, “the gains”, rather than with the future of the country. Indeed, many people have already resigned your latest win of over 70 per cent to the judgment of God Himself.

In July 2014, I wrote a full page newspaper article titled Was Museveni’s longevity prophesied before 1800? In it, I argued that your longevity in power had been foretold by figures such as Kakara ka Shagama, Queen Mother Kibooga, Rucumita and Kahaibaare before and during the 1800s.

The prophecies spoke of a young man who would hide in the bush, ekihongore, and whose supporters would throw the “abusive mutinzi”, the NRM thumb up sign, at him, which he would receive with delight. They also suggested that the end of your long reign would coincide with major changes in global governance.

In July 2017, when Uganda still had presidential age limits in the Constitution, I wrote another full page article, Only Museveni can succeed President Museveni.

I argued that you would continue to win elections until you either got tired or died, but that none of your extended family members should expect to succeed you. That responsibility would fall to someone outside your family.

By 2020, when you summoned me twice to State House, it was clear that you and your son, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, were preparing for him to take over the presidency in 2026.

That plan has since been postponed. With this new win, you now have another opportunity to guide the nation towards a successor with the potential to unite and develop this country.

Although I have never quarrelled over a rehabilitation package for my pre Tarehe Sita 1981 assignment, I did request in 2020 that you meet a retired low level civil servant from Kabale in Kigezi who has important matters to share with you, dating back to May 1974. That request has remained unanswered.

While working in Jinja in 1974, this man reportedly received a series of visions and commands.

These included a young man wearing a red beret, a yellow rosary destined to sponsor a global message of peace, the growing prominence of the Uganda flag and the need to change it, the purchase and storage of the medal of St Martin of Porres, the same medal Pope Francis later gave you in 2014 at the Vatican, and a map of Africa that continues to follow him to this day.

The visions also spoke of two types of crosses, one with Jesus on it and another without Jesus but with the ability to fly into the skies, described as heaven. They mentioned the return of the original Uganda flag from Saudi Arabia, the military leaders who overthrow the Ugandan state on January 25, the Feast of the Conversion of St Paul, and their shared duty to return the bodies of former presidents buried abroad.

Finally, the visions proposed that all Ugandan presidents should be buried at Kololo.

The vision referred to another January 25 overthrow of government besides that of 1971. Historians confirm that such an event indeed occurred in 1986.

It may be recalled that President Idi Amin returned the body of President Edward Muteesa in 1971, even though he had earlier chased him from his palace in 1966.

Cabinet minutes from 1971 show that Amin proposed that all Ugandan presidents be buried in one place. You now have the noble duty to return Idi Amin’s body to Uganda, even as you have consistently stated that you defeated him militarily.

There is no act of reconciliation greater than this.

I wish to remind you that you still need to meet this elderly man from Kigezi. Among other reasons, he is tasked with declaring a forthcoming message of peace for the whole world from Kigezi, including the launch of a book that you should sponsor as head of state.

His efforts to reach you since the early 1990s, including submitting documents through your minister Kahinda Otafiire, have not succeeded. He continues to face financial and technical challenges in completing and professionally publishing his manuscript.

Furthermore, as long as you don the yellow colour and remain president of Uganda, you are enjoined to sponsor a five year compilation process for a global message of peace, scheduled to begin in 2026.

This project is distinct from and, in the author’s view, superior to your daughter Pastor Patience Rwabwogo’s Light Up Uganda for Jesus missions and other international evangelical crusades that draw large crowds but do not usher in a new dispensation.

“We are born again Christians from Austria. During our local fellowship, we had a vision about your country. We did not even know where Uganda was in Africa. According to the vision, Uganda is a blessed country. God is in Uganda. The Lord is doing His final work here. A man is leading this work. He is Elijah, Moses and the heir to David’s throne. The covenant box is also supposed to be in Uganda. Ugandans are to be a special race, God’s chosen people. The man is on the western side of the River Nile. This is no joking matter,” Wilhelm Wetzel and Emil Klein wrote in The New Vision in 1992.

You may choose not to believe or act on any of the above. Nevertheless, these matters are recorded for history.
