MTN Uganda CEO Silvia Mulinge Advocates for Critical Thinking and Corporate Governance at Women’s Leadership Event

Ambience Corporate Governance organised a thought–provoking leadership event at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, emphasising the importance of critical thinking, continuous learning, and strong corporate governance.
Silvia Mulinge: Cultivating a Growth Mindset.
MTN Uganda CEO Silvia Mulinge emphasised that personal and professional growth requires deep reflection and a commitment to learning beyond formal education. “In today’s world, anyone seeking growth must think critically about what they learn and apply it beyond the classroom,” she said.
Mulinge also highlighted the need for employees to develop strategic thinking to ascend to leadership roles. She encouraged women to believe in their potential, stating, “Women can become experts and leaders if they are determined to achieve their dreams.
UK Ambassador Lisa Chesney Urges Persistence
The British Ambassador to Uganda, Lisa Chesney, rallied women to remain resilient in pursuing top corporate positions. “Do not give up if you aspire to reach the highest levels in your organisations,” she urged.
Janet Navugga: Expanding Youth Engagement
Janet Navugga, founder of Ambience Corporate Governance, outlined the initiative’s goal to empower young professionals with leadership skills. “We aim to broaden the mindset of the youth in corporate governance and decision-making,” she said.
Bernard Mwebesa Praises Collaborative Leadership.
Bernard Mwebesa, a leader within the initiative, commended the collaborative spirit of stakeholders in shaping the organisation’s future. Through diverse engagements, we have been able to exchange ideas on sustaining this movement,” he noted.
High-Profile Attendance and Future Plans.
The event attracted prominent figures, including Judge Geoffrey Kiryabwire and lawyer David Mpanga, who discussed strategies to advance the initiative. Plans are underway for further engagements to strengthen corporate governance practices in Uganda.
The event concluded with a forward-looking approach, reinforcing the need for mentorship, strategic thinking, and inclusive leadership in Uganda’s corporate sector.
