Minister Of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar Attends BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting In Brazil

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar is representing Uganda at the BRICS Foreign Minister’s Meeting currently underway in Rio de Janeiro, Federative Republic of Brazil, from 28 to 29 April 2025.

The Meeting is held in preparation for the BRICS Leaders’ Summit, scheduled to take place on 6 and 7 July 2025 under Brazil’s Chairmanship.

On the sidelines of the BRICS Ministers of Foreign Affairs meeting, Hon. Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakhar, held a bilateral meeting with the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E Mauro Vieira.

The two Ministers exchanged views on bilateral and international issues of common interest.

Minister Mauro Vieira welcomed Uganda to the BRICS as a Partner State and expressed optimism that Uganda will make significant contribution to the BRICS.

Hon. Minister Odongo Jeje affirmed that Uganda will indeed promote the BRICS values and aspirations championing the interests of the Global South.

The two Ministers agreed on modalities to strengthen bilateral relations. Through diplomatic channels. A roadmap to achieve this will be agreed between the two countries.
