Renowned Ugandan media personality MC Kats (Edwin Katamba) has dismissed speculation that he harbors political ambitions, following his recent remarks targeting National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Bobi Wine. Addressing the claims during an interview on Sanyuka TV, MC Kats firmly stated that politics is not his calling and that he has no intention of running for office or aligning with any political entity.

This comes after the entertainment mogul sent a strong warning to Bobi Wine, hinting at revealing undisclosed secrets that he claims to have kept for nearly a decade. The comments fueled rumors that he might be setting the stage for a political career or seeking favor from President Yoweri Museveni and his son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

However, MC Kats refuted these claims, making it clear that his statements were not a strategic move to gain recognition from the government but rather a reaction to what he sees as misguided loyalty among some NUP supporters.

In his words:

"I don’t have any interest in politics. Politics is not my calling, and I am not looking at anything like wanting President Museveni or Gen. Muhoozi to call me to join them at State House. But when there is money they’re willing to offer me, I can go and collect it. If I want to play propaganda, I can do it and get those offers."

His remarks have stirred controversy, with some interpreting them as an admission that he would accept financial incentives from government sources despite denying political ambitions.

MC Kats also issued a stern warning to NUP supporters, urging them to stop attacking his family, children, and health status. He emphasized that if the harassment continues, he will not hesitate to expose secrets about Bobi Wine that he has allegedly been holding onto for the past ten years.

For now, MC Kats maintains that his focus remains on his entertainment career, mental health advocacy, and personal life rather than politics. However, his willingness to “collect money” from those in power has left some questioning whether his stance might change in the future.
