Celebrated events emcee and media personality MC Kats has announced that he will be retiring from TV work to focus on his personal media platforms.
MC Kats, real name Edwin Katamba, made the announcement before partiers at one of the night spots in Kampala. As a presenter on the NBS After5 show, he revealed that he is currently earning 1000USD and is willing to give up his spot for someone else.
He emphasized that he was not stepping down because he couldn’t do his job anymore, but he felt he wanted to give a chance to a younger talent who had dreams of working on TV.
MC Kats joined the entertainment industry at the tender age of 13 at WBS TV. He was presenting the famous ‘Teens Club’ and his enormous talent made him a household name, giving him more opportunities at other stations. He became the first entertainment presenter on NTV, hosting NTV Xposed and later NBS After5, where he is currently.
With over two decades in the industry, MC Kats feels he has served his time and needs to take a break so someone new can step in. He hopes to leave next year officially.

This, however, didn’t mean he would entirely leave the media, as he is expected to make his YouTube channel active, covering a wide range of topics for discussion.
For your information, I earn 1000 USD every month on NBS TV. I’m not doing it because of the pay. I’m not doing it because I can’t, I’m doing it because if I never, when will other people work on TV? Next year, find me on YouTube on MC Kats Talks. I think I have done enough. Have served this country for 23 years on TV. I feel it is enough,” he said, revealing that his spot was now empty.
