American Grammy-winning musician Matt B has officially handed over his Grammy Award to the Uganda Tourism Board for display at the Uganda Museum, aiming to inspire the next generation of artists across the continent.
Matt B and his wife arrived in Uganda with their accolades, honoring the country’s significant contribution to his musical journey and success.
Though he previously lost the Best Global Music Performance award to Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini, and Nomcebo Zikode, Matt B commended Ugandan superstar Eddy Kenzo for his collaboration on the Grammy-nominated hit “Gimme Love.”
At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in 2025, Matt B won Best Global Music Album for Alkebulan II, a project deeply rooted in African culture and creativity.
He paid special tribute to Ugandan creatives who played a pivotal role in the album’s success, including producers Bashkilla and BiT HD, as well as a team of gifted songwriters: Ghost Elnino, Rulz, Ziginana, and Tarley.
These contributors are expected to receive official Certificates of Recognition from the Recording Academy for their work on the Grammy-winning album.

“This is more than just a personal win,” Matt B said upon his arrival. “It’s a moment for Uganda, for East Africa, and for the entire continent to realize the power and reach of African music and creativity.”
As a symbolic gesture of gratitude, Matt B presented his Grammy Award to Uganda Tourism Board officials, who will ensure it is preserved in the Uganda Museum, not only as a historical artifact but also as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring artists across Africa.
