Mary Bata Explains Decision to Stay Single: “Relationships Drag Us Back”

Date:

MBM singer Mary Bata has explained why she is not ready to settle down in a committed relationship, more so marriage, at this point in her life.

Mary Bata, in a recent interview, revealed that, while her peers are getting married, she was not in a hurry and was dedicating all her time to music.

My problem was that when I was leaving the village for Kampala, I was only focused on work. I told my family that I was going to work, and that is precisely what I’m doing. If I’m meant to find love in Kampala, then so be it, because every good thing I came for is here.

Mary Bata denied the common belief that she had given up on life and relationships because of the several heartbreaks and disappointments from men.

She revealed that she had only dated a few men and that with every relationship, she realized it was dragging her and her career backward.

At this point, she is channelling all her energy into making sure she gives her fans the best of her through music, and she can only do this if she steps away from relationships.

I have not been with many men. You rarely hear any drama about me concerning that. I’m still fulfilling my dreams, and marriage wasn’t part of them. At this time, if I need it, I will also go for it. Relationships drive us back. I’m a poor woman who is focused on working. You might be with someone with different intentions, so when I realized that, I decided to step back and focus on my music.
