Maro Says Media Misread His Closeness With Iryn Namubiru as Romance

Date:

Musician Maro has opened up about a past closeness with vocalist Iryn Namubiru, which led people to think they were romantically involved.

One of Maro’s most-talked-about collaborations was ‘Addicted’ with Iryn Nambiru, mainly because of the visuals that they used to promote it. The photos that dropped on social media showed the pair seemingly close in the studio.

This prompted netizens to speculate that the two were in a secret relationship. Maro, during a TV interview with Deep Talk, revealed that the rumours got to his father, who immediately called him to confirm whether the stories he had read were true.

“I laughed when he called me because he was this person I had never talked to about women. Our relationship to the point of talking about deep issues started later,” he said.

Maro emphasized that their relationship was simply cordial, but the media was taking it out of context because he had openly declared that Iryn was his crush. He described the collaboration as a blessing that drew him closer to the diva.

“I used to tell people that Iryn was my crush; she was always my number one or after Maurice Kirya. Doing that song with her was a blessing, and after we went to the studio and took those photos, they went viral. Surprisingly, that is when I got to know her more. She is always portrayed differently in the media,” he said.
