Mbale City Northern Division Police are searching for a male suspect who allegedly killed a 15-year-old student from Nakaloke SS after defiling her.
The incident occurred on Sunday, 23rd March, 2025 at Grace Guest House in Namakwekwe Ward, Mbale Northern City Division.
According to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Regional police spokesperson, the victim was found dead in room 11 of the guest house at about 1:00PM.
He says the suspect, who had checked into the room with the deceased in the morning of Sunday, is believed to have used the victim’s phone to contact her relatives.
The deceased has been identified as Sumaya Binti Edrisa aged 15,a mugisu by tribe,a student at Nakaloke SS in S.2 and resident of Dr Gesa Cell, Namunsi ward, Northern Division, Mbale city.
However, concerns have been raised over the handling of the scene, as the guest house remained operational, and the area was not properly cordoned off to preserve possible evidence.
Taitika adds that the police have commenced investigations and are reviewing statements from the crime scene.
By press time the body had been taken to Mbale City mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
The police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue with their inquiries.
