Maama Ghetto, real name Claire Nanganja, has opened up about the challenges she has faced since marrying musician Bucha Man.
Maama Ghetto met the self-styled Ghetto President Bucha Man in 2006. They have been married for 9 years, as part of the 19 years they have spent together. Speaking in an interview, Claire described her husband as a traditional man who was principled when it came to cultural norms and beliefs.
Throughout the time they have spent together, Claire says it hasn’t been easy to navigate, especially with a man as attached to tradition as he is. She revealed that Bucha Man had many baby mamas and admitted to having gotten jealous at one point, but didn’t let her feelings consume her. She, however, believed that they made it work because they were friends who understood each other.
It has been very hot being married to him, but what helped me was that I didn’t expect marriage to be easy. Labour was okay, but managing a man with many kids is not easy. I’m not the only woman he has. He has many children, meaning he has many women. I get jealous, but I use my mind to overcome and reason how to handle the situation. I do not let it consume me.
By the time they met, she says Bucha Man had just left his relationship with his woman, with whom he had sons. She denied being the reason for their breakup, but when they started dating, the mother of the singer’s children decided they would come and live with them for proper upbringing.
Despite several challenges, she raised the children as her own, revealing that they have been nothing but respectful and not troublesome.

I was in school when he already had his own family. I didn’t drag him away from his family; they had their own issues. What hurts are the children that come after yours. But you have to be ready. I thank God that the children I stay with are very humble and respectful. They do not sleep out even when they are older.
Maama Ghetto has five biological children with Bucha Man. She credited him for being a responsible family man who cared about his children’s well-being.
