Renowned Masaka-based businessman Lwasa Acram has been granted bail following his arrest and being arraigned before the Makindye court.
Lwasa was arrested yesterday and detained at Katwe Police Station on charges of obtaining money by false pretense.
The businessman was subsequently arraigned before the Makindye Magistrates’ Court to face the consequences of his actions.
According to the court, on 23 September 2024, at Lwanga Zone in Makindye Division, Lwasa obtained Ugx 21M from Mr. Robert by falsely pretending that he would sell his Toyota vehicle with the personalized number plate Lwasa 4.
Additionally, on 22 and 28 August 2025, at Lwanga Zone in Makindye Division, Lwasa, without a reasonable excuse, issued Ugx 4.2M and Ugx 8M false cheques, respectively, to Robert, only for the funds on the account to be found insufficient.

He, however, appealed for bail, mentioning his driver and wife as his sureties. Unfortunately, the court found the driver ineligible to serve as a surety, with only the wife eligible.
Lwasa was granted non-cash bail of Ugx 40M, and his wife, Ugx 30M; the businessman is required to reappear before the court on 08th January 2026.
