Singer Lilian Mbabazi has expressed her disappointment in media personality MC Kats, accusing him of being dishonest in his attacks on the Uganda National Musicians’ Association (UNMF).
MC Kats recently spoke to the media, accusing the UNMF and its president, Eddy Kenzo, of not helping fellow musician Fille during her time in rehab. Fille had been committed to a rehabilitation center for months over extensive drug use, and Kats alleged that the federation just kept tossing them around instead of helping.
During an interview with journalists, Lilian, an active member, denied the allegations, saying MC Kats had been dishonest in his accusations. As a federation, Lilian noted that they had supported Fille in the best way possible and could not disclose in detail the role they played, as it was private information.
“I think that if MC Kats is very honest, he would look inside himself and know and remember everything we have done for Fille. For us, we are not here to just tell everyone what we have done for somebody. The only problem here is that Kats has not been honest, and he had better call me about it. You understand that we have been there, and for you to come out and say that we have not, that is a lie. Let us tell the truth.
Lilian Mbabazi revealed that, as a federation, they have done their best to support artists, especially by providing them with money at no interest, secured only by their music as collateral.
