Lil Pazo Lunabe Blames Local TV Stations for Snubbing Ugandan Music Over “Vulgarity” Claims

Date:

Singer Lil Pazo Lunabe has blamed the local media, especially television stations, for failing to play Ugandan music, claiming they are vulgar.

Last year, Lil Pazo was listed among artists whose music lyrics were considered X-rated. Despite his songs going viral across various online playlists, and digital platforms, he received minimal television airplay.

During his recent interview, he explained that it has been his biggest challenge, and he feels those in charge limit their audiences by not giving them what they want to watch on their sets.

He insisted that the industry had significantly transformed and music consumers were massively enjoying his songs on the ground. He gave an example of his ‘Ekisododo’ song that he says is being played in bars and in homes, but never on TV.

The media people, especially those who work on television, have one problem; they pretend to be following the rules and regulations and do not mind the change in the world. You will find people loving our songs in the ghetto, playing them in their bars, their phones, and in homes, but you don’t give them this music on TV he said.

Lil Pazo further noted that the TV stations instead opt to play Western Music, which he says is more vulgar than his songs.

You keep saying our songs are vulgar, and yet we find you playing Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. You also have a program dedicated to Jamaican music. These people are vulgar all through. In fact they sing the same songs or even worse than mine he said.
