Ruth Rujoki Mushabe, the NRM flag bearer for Kiruhura, has pledged to foster unity and enhance service delivery programmes if elected as woman legislator in 2026.
Speaking to Bbeg Media during celebrations following the dismissal of an election petition filed against her by rival Jovanice Twinobusingye at the NRM Electoral Commission offices, Rujoki expressed gratitude to her supporters and outlined her vision.
“I want to thank my supporters for their effort in reclaiming our victory and assure them of unity and working as a team with our former competitors to address women’s issues, improve access to clean water, equip our schools with better facilities, and lobby for development programs for our youth and women, among other priorities,” she said.
Rujoki has worked at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), described the petition against her as baseless and an attack on her character. She urged her supporters to focus on mobilizing for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) to drive development in Kiruhura.
The petitioner, Jovanice Twinobusingye, had accused Rujoki of manipulating election results and benefiting from votes cast by alleged ghost voters not listed in the NRM’s yellow book.
Rujoki secured the NRM flag with 24,757 votes, representing 50.3% of the total, defeating Twinobusingye, who garnered 21,205 votes (43.1%).
