According to Bukedi South Regional Police Spokesperson, IP Moses Mugwe, the deceased—identified as Hodhen Abdi, a Somali-origin resident of Garisa, Kenya—checked into Safari Guest House on the evening of July 3, 2025. The following morning, a cleaner discovered her unresponsive in her room. She was rushed to Hope For Life Drug Shop in Amoni B’ Cell but was declared dead shortly after arrival.
Preliminary observations revealed no visible injuries on her body. Abdi had reportedly come to visit relatives in Uganda, who informed investigators that she had a medical history of diabetes, which could be a factor in her death.
Police have since visited the scene, gathered evidence, and recorded statements from witnesses. The body has been transferred to Tororo General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
