Celebrated rapper Keko has accused duo Radio and Weasel of recording the remix to her famous single ‘This Is How We Do It’ without her consent.
Keko, while appearing on the Baboon Forest podcast, revealed that she released her version of the song, which became an instant hit. Shortly after, she claims Weasel approached her after listening to the song, and before she knew it, he had already recorded his verse on it the next day.
Keko noted that she had no close relationship with the duo, emphasizing that they were not friends before the time the remix was made. She confessed that he didn’t give her a chance to choose who she wanted to work with on the remix, as everything was done very quickly.
“We were not friends, and I didn’t even know them at that time. Weasel listened to it, and the next day, he recorded a verse on it without even consulting me. They had booked the remix and didn’t give me a chance to choose who I wanted to do the remix with,” she said.
In her submission, Keko revealed that she didn’t need a remix or any star power on the song since the original was already topping charts at that time.

She, however, agreed that she sampled Radio’s tag piece at the start of the song, but revealed it was a common practice in Hip hop that was even used by artists in the Western World.
“Kanye West uses them a lot, but he doesn’t write the word ‘featuring’. It is a sample. It is his voice, but it is a sample. He was alive then, so there was no harm, no foul with that. In rap, we do that because it is a hip hop thing, and I didn’t need his permission. He was cool with it,” she said.
