KCCA Prepares For Uganda Cup Showdown Under The Lights

Date:

Kampala Capital City Authority ( KCCA ) is gearing up to host a thrilling Uganda Cup match against regional side Rwenzori Lions at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo, marking their first home game in over two seasons under the floodlights.

After successfully overcoming lower regional opponents to reach this stage, KCCA faces a formidable challenge from Rwenzori Lions, who knocked out Fufa Big league leaders Buhimba Saints on their journey to the current stage of the tournament.

Abdallah Mubiru, the coach of KCCA, has issued a stern warning against complacency, stressing the significance of the Uganda Cup in shaping the team’s season.

Mubiru’s focus is on maintaining a winning mentality, stating, “Not to undermine our opponents but we have bigger ambitions than they do in this competition. They should content with this reaching this stage but for us, only winning this tournament will satisfy us.”

Key players return to strengthen KCCA’s squad ahead of crucial match

As KCCA braces for the match, Gavin Kizito and Brian Ijara are unavailable due to national team commitments, while Mustafa Mujuzi and Steven Munguchi are sidelined with injuries.

However, the return of Skipper Julius Poloto, winger Ettiene Katenga, and reliable centre back Hassan Muhamood boosts the team’s morale and defensive strength.

In addition to KCCA’s game, SC Villa is set to visit Lugazi at Najjembe, and BUL will play host to Total FC on the same day. The Uganda Cup action continues with exciting fixtures lined up for Wednesday, March 19, 2025:

*Kaaro Karungi vs UPDF at Kyamatte, 3pm

*URA vs Kataka at Nakivubo, 3pm

*Vipers SC vs Blacks Power at Kitende, 7pm
