KAMPALA — KCB Bank Uganda has officially partnered with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) to sponsor the upcoming Fort Portal Rally, the fifth round of the National Rally Championship (NRC). The announcement was made at a launch event on Makerere Hill Road.

The rally, scheduled for Aug. 23–24, 2025, will feature competitive stages covering more than 137 kilometers through the districts of Fort Portal and Kyenjojo. The routes will include the “Duncan’s Bridge” on the Mpanga Stage and the Harugongo Stage, with a double-track super special stage planned for Kyenjojo town.

KCB Bank Uganda has a long history of supporting motorsport, including a recent UGX 80 million contribution to the Pearl of Africa Rally 2025 and an additional UGX 167 million to support three drivers. For the Fort Portal Rally, KCB-sponsored drivers Mukula George Jr., Nasser Mutebi, and Oscar Ntambi will be competing.

Sheila Awori, the acting head of marketing and communications at KCB Bank Uganda, expressed the bank’s enthusiasm. “Our support to motorsports is a mirror of our brand promise, ‘For People For Better,’” Awori said. “Through our continued support for rallies like this one, we are championing performance and the purpose of Ugandan motorsport.”

Awori also announced a tree-planting initiative, with an ambitious goal of planting 15,000 trees. The bank has already planted 300 at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa and 1,000 at the Bugerere Stabex Rally tracks, with plans to plant 2,000 more in Fort Portal.

Rally driver Nasser Mutebi thanked KCB for its sponsorship and urged all drivers and spectators to prioritize safety during the event. Stuart Kimera, vice president of the Uganda Motor Club, also thanked the sponsors for making the rally possible.
