Musician Kalifah Aganaga has opened up about the challenges of engaging in active politics and how it has affected his ability to write a hit song.
Aganaga contested for the Kawempe North parliamentary seat on the FDC party card. While many imagined that he would switch careers and fully focus on politics, Aganaga emphasized that he could not turn away from music, describing it as a farm where he has reaped big from.
Explaining his silence, Aganaga revealed he couldn’t handle the demands of active politics and being in the studio consistently, so he chose to focus on the latter. He, however, noted that he was no longer competing for a hit song, as he had already become a household name.
“I have enough music, and I already made a name that won’t go away. I have been building on my other career, which is politics. This year, I have a concert to celebrate 15 years of music, plus an album. I’m fully back in music; they are free to say I’m faded, but I want them to also consider my other ambitions. It is not easy to be on the ballot,” he said.

Aganaga bragged about having a rich catalogue of music that could easily sustain him for hours of stage performance, with fans singing along to every song.
“I’m no longer a musician who looks for a hit song like upcoming artists. I have a rich catalogue that can support me through two hours of non-stop hits on stage with everyone of them singing along,”
