Award-winning fashion designer Kaijuka Abbas of Kai’s Divo has opened up on his experience of working with male musicians, describing them as difficult.
Kaijuka has been in the fashion game for years, styling a roster of prominent figures in the entertainment industry. His designs are known for their elegance, a special blend of African heritage and contemporary style. Speaking in a TV interview, Kaijuka revealed that male artists have not been his favorite clientele, as they are very hard to work with.
Not only were the male artists poor at paying up, but they were also uncreative and always settled for monotonous designs that, he says, have embarrassed his brand as a top designer.
“Male artists are very hard to work with. First of all, they are big-headed, they do not listen, and they do not want to pay. Most of them want to be dressed in the same thing; I’m that kind of person to dress you up in the same outfit all the time. If you put on a jacket and jeans all the time and I see that you are not evolving, I will let you be,” he said.
Kaijuka Abbas revealed that deciding not to work with artists would not cost his career, as they were not his main source of business. He noted he had more deals with everyday people than with the entertainment world.

Artists aren’t even my main source of business; I dress a lot of other people. You might think I have made so much money from them, but in fact, that is not the case.
I get more money from ordinary people like brides than from artists. I would rather not work with you if I see that you will embarrass me, because now everyone will know I dressed you up. Yet the way you dress does not represent me; that is why I limit myself,” he said.
