Hajj Kawaase, speaking to journalists in Kampala, noted that medical professionals were satisfied with the Kabaka’s progress and continue to monitor his condition even while he resides in Uganda. He reaffirmed the kingdom’s dedication to supporting the Kabaka’s recovery, saying, “We are committed to following the doctors’ guidance because the king’s well-being is vital to ensuring that Buganda’s affairs continue without disruption.”
In April 2024, the Kabaka was quietly taken to Namibia for medical treatment and remained there for several months. His prolonged absence stirred concern and speculation among subjects due to limited communication about the trip.
Buganda Premier Charles Peter Mayiga later explained that the Namibia visit was a medical arrangement based on expert recommendations. After the Kabaka’s return, Mayiga emphasized that the King’s health remains a top priority for the Mengo administration.
Overall, the Kingdom continues to place strong emphasis on ensuring the Kabaka’s full recovery, viewing his health as central to the stability and progress of Buganda.
