Justine Nameere Endorses Rival to Kampala Lord Mayor

Date:

KAMPALA — A former presidential advisor has publicly endorsed Mathias Walukaaga for a parliamentary seat, praising his leadership qualities over those of Kampala’s Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago.

Justine Nameere, a former advisor and MP hopeful, made the remarks during a television interview, commending Walukaaga for his clean record and calm approach. She contrasted his style with what she described as Lukwago’s confrontational political tactics.

“Walukaaga has led Kyengera Town Council for five years without scandals or conflicts,” Nameere said. “He’s been a clean, focused leader, unlike Lukwago — a professional lawyer who has been entangled in fights and confusion since day one.”

Nameere’s comments came as she formally endorsed Walukaaga’s bid for the Busiro East parliamentary seat. She described him as a disciplined and result-oriented leader capable of driving meaningful change for the constituency.

The endorsement highlights emerging political alignments ahead of the elections. Walukaaga, who has led the Kyengera Town Council for half a decade, is positioning himself as a scandal-free and effective administrator.

Lukwago, a prominent figure and lawyer, has built his political career on a more combative style, often clashing with central government authorities over city management. Nameere’s praise for Walukaaga’s quieter leadership suggests a potential political fault line between different styles of governance.

Nameere’s backing is expected to bolster Walukaaga’s campaign, lending him credibility from a well-known political figure. She framed the choice for voters as one between steady development and persistent conflict.
