As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) gears up for its national delegates conference to be held this month, several aspirants vying for key positions within the party have sprung up.
Among them is Joseph Sewava Ssemakula, who is contesting for the position of NRM vice chairman for the Central Region.
A long-time NRM loyalist, Sewava said he will use the Central Executive Committee (CEC) role to foster reconciliation between the NRM and traditional leaders in Uganda, particularly in Buganda.
“I will ensure that all traditional leaders in Buganda fully benefit from and agree on various projects in the country,” Sewava said.
Sewava said he will establish regional offices across Uganda to promote equitable resource distribution and balanced development.
At a press conference attended by several delegates, Sewava expressed confidence in leveraging the CEC position to advocate for policies that drive grassroots development, focusing on job creation for youth and women. He also distanced himself from corrupt practices, urging voters to reject leaders who misuse taxpayer money.
“Eat all the money from corrupt politicians, but ensure you give your votes to the right people,” he emphasized.
Sewava faces competition for the vice chairman role from other aspirants, including Haruna Kasolo, the State Minister for Microfinance, and Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, the incumbent, among others.
